Electric vehicles (EVs) are rapidly evolving, and automakers worldwide are aggressively expanding their offerings to meet changing demands. Established brands and newcomers alike are introducing new electric models, ranging from futuristic concepts to production-ready vehicles. For prospective buyers looking to transition to electric or upgrade their current EV, understanding the upcoming models is crucial for making informed purchasing decisions.
This comprehensive guide explores the exciting lineup of electric cars and SUVs expected in the U.S. market through 2026 and beyond. We’ve compiled a list of vehicles in various stages of development, offering insights into their features, performance, and potential impact on the evolving landscape of electric mobility.
Alfa Romeo Giulia EV (Expected: 2028)

Alfa Romeo is set to electrify its iconic Giulia sedan, offering both hybrid and pure electric options. Expected to be built on the Stellantis Group’s STLA Large platform, the new Giulia will feature 800-volt architecture for ultra-fast charging and an estimated range of up to 500 miles.
The base version is anticipated to produce around 350 horsepower, while the higher-performance Giulia Veloce is projected to deliver close to 800 horsepower. Topping the range, the legendary Quadrifoglio badge will adorn a powerful electric powertrain expected to exceed 1,000 horsepower. While Alfa Romeo has confirmed the Giulia will be offered in electric form, recent rumors suggest that the sedan may also be available with combustion engines, giving buyers flexibility.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio EV (Expected: 2027)

Before the next-generation Giulia arrives, Alfa Romeo will launch a new electric SUV called the Stelvio. Similar to the upcoming sedan, the Stelvio will be built on the STLA Large platform and will be available in both electric and hybrid variants. The electric SUV has experienced some delays and is now anticipated to arrive in the Udu.S. market sometime in 2027.
Alpine EVs (Expected: 2030)

Alpine, Renault’s high-performance French subsidiary known for its lightweight sports cars, is preparing to enter the U.S. market by the end of the decade. The company initially planned to launch with the compact A390, a stylish fastback crossover featuring a 470-hp tri-motor powertrain. However, the launch has been delayed due to tariffs on imported vehicles by the Trump administration. If Alpine enters the U.S. market, the company now plans to introduce the upcoming A110 electric sports car and a larger SUV instead.

Audi TT EV (Expected: 2027)

Audi plans to release a new electric sports car in 2027, previewed by the futuristic Concept C. Audi states that the new sports car will be roughly the size of a Porsche 911 and will bridge the gap between the TT and R8 in terms of performance, ushering in a new design language for the brand. Inside, the Concept C demonstrates Audi’s embrace of physical controls, and the concept even features a screen that can retract completely when not in use. Details regarding the powertrain remain limited, but the Concept C was designed as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, and we anticipate it will share a platform with the upcoming Porsche 718 EV. Audi has confirmed that the production car will also offer a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variant, with the rear-wheel-drive concept reportedly weighing in at 3,726 pounds.
Bentley EV SUV (Expected: 2027)

Bentley will unveil its first electric vehicle in 2026. The luxury automaker describes the model as a “luxury urban SUV” that will sit below the Bentayga in the lineup. Despite being called “compact,” the new Bentley EV will still be substantial, measuring up to 197 inches long. The Bentley EV’s styling is previewed by the EXP 15 concept car, which features a bold, angular front end, a long hood, and a luxurious interior. The electric SUV will likely utilize the same platform as the upcoming Porsche Cayenne EV, and sales are expected to commence in early 2027. Based on trademark filings, we anticipate the vehicle will be named the Barnato, in honor of one of Bentley’s racers and executives from the 1920s. Plans for additional Bentley electric vehicles have been postponed until at least 2030.
BMW i3 (Expected: Late 2026)

The BMW i3 is launching as an electric counterpart to the long-running BMW 3-Series, featuring BMW’s new design language and built on the same Neue Klasse platform as the iX3 SUV. An 800-volt architecture enables 400-kW fast charging, while the 109-kWh battery is expected to provide an estimated 440 miles of range. The i3 will initially be available in one trim, the 50 xDrive, which delivers 463 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. The interior features a radical new layout with a thin display integrated along the base of the windshield and a trapezoidal central touchscreen. Sales of the BMW i3 are scheduled to begin before the end of 2026.
BMW iM3 (Expected: 2027)

The upcoming BMW i3 will also give rise to the first all-electric M3. The iM3, as we expect it to be called, will ride on BMW’s next-generation EV platform, featuring an 800-volt electrical architecture. A quad-motor powertrain, with two electric motors on each axle, is expected to deliver well over 600 horsepower, ensuring the iM3 is appropriately rapid. The front motors can be decoupled, and while BMW states this is intended to increase highway range, drivers may be able to utilize the drift mode. BMW is also planning simulated gear shifts and engine noises to enhance driver engagement, sampling everything from the E92 M3’s V-8 to the E64 M6’s 5.0-liter V-10.

BMW iX3 (Expected: Summer 2026)
2026 bmw ix3BMW
The BMW iX3 arrives as an electric counterpart to the brand’s popular X3 SUV, introducing an unorthodox design language with a slimmer interpretation of the iconic “kidney” grille that pays homage to classics like the 2002. The iX3 will debut in the U.S. with a dual-motor variant producing 463 hp, allowing the SUV to accelerate to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds. A 109-kWh battery is expected to provide close to 400 miles of range and support charging at up to 400 kilowatts. Inside, the iX3 debuts a new dashboard layout where a thin darkened strip along the base of the windshield serves as a 43-inch, full-width head-up display, replacing the conventional gauge cluster. A 17.9-inch touchscreen handles all primary infotainment functions. Sales will commence in the summer of 2026.
BMW iX4 (Expected: 2027)

BMW is developing an electric replacement for the X4, the sleeker coupe-style alternative to the X3. Expected to be called the iX4, the new model will feature exclusively electric powertrains and be closely related to the iX3 that goes on sale in 2026. Like the iX3, the iX4 is also anticipated to spawn an M-branded performance variant. Production of the iX4 is rumored to begin in November 2026, with U.S. sales expected to start in 2027.
BMW iX5 (Expected: 2027)
2024 bmw x5BMW
BMW will continue electrifying its lineup with the iX5, an electric counterpart to the mid-size X5 SUV. Instead of using the Neue Klasse platform underpinning the iX3, the iX5 will utilize an adaptation of BMW’s CLAR platform—currently found beneath the iX electric SUV—allowing for an updated gas-powered X5 to coexist with its electric sibling. The iX5 will feature a next-generation battery with improved energy density. The electric SUV is expected to be revealed in late 2026 and go on sale in the U.S. in 2027. BMW is also planning a version with a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain—co-developed with Toyota—which may become available before the end of the decade.
