From established titans to newcomers like Lucid, Rivian, and Polestar, the race to electrify is in full swing. We’ve compiled a comprehensive overview of the electric vehicles currently in development, ranging from concept stages to impending production—and, naturally, some that may never make it to market. Alfa Romeo Giulia EV (Expected: 2028) The Italian brand has confirmed a complete overhaul for the iconic Giulia, which will transition to an electric powertrain. The base model is projected to deliver around 350 horsepower, while the Veloce variant is targeting approximately 800 horsepower. Topping the range is the Quadrifoglio model, expected to boast an impressive 1,000 horsepower. This next-generation Giulia will be built on the STLA Large platform from Stellantis Group, featuring 800-volt architecture for ultra-fast charging and a potential range of up to 500 miles. Recent industry speculation indicates that the Giulia may also be offered with combustion engines, following the direction set by the Dodge Charger. Alfa Romeo Stelvio EV (Expected: 2027) Before the arrival of the next-generation Giulia sedan, Alfa Romeo is set to launch a new Stelvio SUV. Similar to the upcoming sedan, the Stelvio will utilize the STLA Large platform and will be available in both fully electric and hybrid configurations. However, the release of the electric SUV has been delayed, and it is not expected in the United States until 2027. Alpine EVs (Expected: 2030) Alpine, the renowned French performance subsidiary of Renault, is positioning itself to enter the U.S. market later this decade. The initial plan involved the introduction of the compact A390 fastback crossover, powered by a 470-hp tri-motor powertrain. However, these plans have shifted. The U.S. launch of Alpine’s electric vehicles was originally anticipated for 2027, but the implementation of high tariffs on imported vehicles by the Trump administration has led to a significant delay in their schedule. If Alpine proceeds with its U.S. market entry, the company now indicates it will do so with the upcoming A110 electric sports car and a larger SUV. Audi TT EV (Expected: 2027) Audi is gearing up to launch a new electric sports car in 2027, hinted at by the radical Concept C prototype. According to Audi, this new sports coupe, roughly the same size as the Porsche 911, will occupy a position between the TT and the R8 in terms of performance capabilities and will usher in a new design language for the brand. Internally, the Concept C showcases Audi’s commitment to returning to physical controls, featuring a screen that can completely retract when not in use. Details about the powertrain remain limited, but the Concept C was designed as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, and it is expected to share a platform with the upcoming Porsche 718 EV. Audi has confirmed that the production model will also offer a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration, and the RWD concept reportedly weighs 3,726 pounds. Bentley EV SUV (Expected: 2027) Bentley’s inaugural electric vehicle will be revealed in 2026. The luxury automaker has described the model as a “luxury urban SUV” that will be positioned below the gasoline-powered Bentayga in the brand’s hierarchy. Although Bentley classifies the EV as “compact,” the new model is anticipated to maintain imposing proportions, measuring approximately 197 inches in length. A concept known as the EXP 15 previews the Bentley EV’s styling, showcasing a bold, angular front fascia, a long bonnet, and a opulent interior. The electric SUV is rumored to share its platform with the upcoming Porsche Cayenne EV, and sales are expected to commence in early 2027. Based on trademark filings, speculation suggests the vehicle will be named the Barnato, a tribute to one of Bentley’s prominent racers and executives from the 1920s. Plans for additional Bentley EVs have been postponed until at least 2030. BMW i3 (Expected: Late 2026) The electric BMW i3 will arrive as an electric counterpart to the long-running BMW 3 Series. It will feature BMW’s contemporary design language and ride on the Neue Klasse platform that underpins the iX3 SUV. The 800-volt architecture supports 400-kW fast charging, while the 109-kWh battery is estimated to provide a range of approximately 440 miles. The i3 will initially launch with a single trim, the 50 xDrive, delivering 463 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. The interior boasts a radical new layout, featuring a thin display along the base of the windshield and a trapezoidal central touchscreen. Sales of the i3 are scheduled to begin before the end of 2026. BMW iM3 (Expected: 2027) The upcoming BMW i3 will also spawn the brand’s first all-electric M3. The iM3, as it is expected to be named, will ride on BMW’s next-generation EV platform, featuring an 800-volt electrical architecture. A quad-motor powertrain, with two electric motors on each axle, is anticipated to generate well over 600 horsepower, ensuring that the iM3 is exceptionally rapid. The front motors can be decoupled; while BMW claims this is to enhance highway range, enthusiasts are already fantasizing about drift capabilities. BMW is also planning faux gear shifts and engine noises to increase engagement, with the company experimenting with everything from the E92 M3’s V-8 to the E64 M6’s 5.0-liter V-10. BMW iX3 (Expected: Summer 2026) The BMW iX3 arrives as the electric counterpart to the brand’s highly popular X3 SUV and debuts an unconventional new design language, featuring a slimmer interpretation of the iconic “kidney” grille that pays homage to classic models like the 2002. The U.S. version of the iX3 will offer a dual-motor variant producing 463 hp, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds. A 109-kWh battery is expected to provide nearly 400 miles of range and will support charging speeds of up to 400 kW. Inside, the iX3 introduces a new dashboard setup, where a thin darkened strip along the base of the windshield serves as a 43-inch, full-width head-up display, replacing a conventional gauge cluster. A 17.9-inch touchscreen handles all primary infotainment duties. Sales will commence in the summer of 2026. BMW iX4 (Expected: 2027) BMW is developing an electric replacement for the X4, the sleeker SUV alternative to the X3 featuring a sloping roofline. Expected to be named the iX4, this new “coupe-SUV” will be offered exclusively with electric powertrains and will be closely related to the iX3 going on sale in 2026. Similar to the iX3, the iX4 is also rumored to spawn an M-branded performance variant. Production of the iX4 is reportedly scheduled to begin in November 2026, and U.S. sales are expected to kick off in 2027. BMW iX5 (Expected: 2027) BMW will continue to electrify its product lineup with the iX5, the electric version of its mid-size X5 SUV. Instead of utilizing the Neue Klasse platform underpinning the iX3, the iX5 will adopt an adaptation of BMW’s CLAR platform—currently found beneath the iX electric SUV—allowing an updated gasoline-powered X5 to coexist alongside its electric counterpart. The iX5 will feature a next-generation battery with enhanced energy density. The electric SUV is anticipated to be revealed in late 2026 and reach U.S. showrooms in 2027. BMW is also planning a variant with a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain—co-developed with Toyota—which may become available before the end of the decade. Caterham Project V (Expected: 2027) Caterham, known for its minimalist and lightweight sports cars, is looking to expand its portfolio with an electric coupe scheduled for production in 2027. Caterham aims to enter the U.S. market with the Project V, as it is currently known, which will be equipped with a 268-hp electric motor sourced from Yamaha, positioned at the rear axle. The Project V will also feature a distinctive split battery pack, with a roughly 27 kWh battery located between the occupants’ legs and another beneath the rear seat. Caterham is targeting a 0-to-62 mph time of under 4.5 seconds and a price tag of around $135,000. Ferrari Luce (Expected: 2026) Ferrari is preparing its first all-electric vehicle, set to debut in early 2026. Spy shots reveal a low-slung, crossover-like profile, and Ferrari has confirmed the vehicle will have four doors,
